We host a wide variety of kink and sex-positive classes. If you are interested in teaching a class, fill out our intake form. We host both in person classes as well as virtual classes.
The goal of Sub Rosa is to create community, as well as teach BDSM and kink in an approachable, inclusive way. We look for educators with a wide variety of experience in kink education from intro classes, to more advance subjects. Using gender neutral language and knowledge of the queer experience is essential. Sub Rosa manages ticketing and promotes the class, and expects guest educators to promote the class as well. We value the knowledge and experience veteran kink educators bring to our audience and work hard to make sure they are paid appropriately.
Our in person classes take place in Sub Rosa in SE Portland. Our space is private. All attendees must have a ticket in order to get the address. We do not offer tickets at the door. There are some challenges to accessibility in our old industrial building. There is no passenger elevator, and stairs are required. We offer to meet attendees at the door to assist upon request. Events and classes can be ASL interpreted upon request. Masks are optional and welcome. There is an air filter in the space. We are not requiring vax cards or covid tests at this time. This policy can be adjusted to the comfort level of the instructor.
Attendees are welcomed into the space with hot tea, cookies and other snacks provided by Sub Rosa, and other little touches that help create a fun escape from everyday life. We find people coming to in person classes enjoy a bit of social time so encourage working an ice breaker and a 15 minute break into your presentation. A sold out class is 25 people. Suggested ticket price for a 2 hour class is $55. Class time is generally 7-9pm and we find Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays work best for our audience but are open to other times. Longer workshops, more intimate intensives, or weekend retreats are possible on a case by case basis.
Our virtual classes take place on Zoom hosted by Sub Rosa, with a suggested sliding scale ticket price between $25-$35. We aim to sell a minimum of 50 tickets. We offer the recording to all ticket holders for 30 days. We also offer the educator a copy of the recording for their use and ask that if they publish it elsewhere, they state it was taught at for Sub Rosa and have a link to our site. Classes generally run from 6-7:30pm PST. Some classes feature a cameras-on, recording-off social time for participants from 7:30-8pm.
We do offer discount codes to BIPOC (60%) as well as those suffering financial hardship (50%) to both in person as well as online classes.
