PDX Kink Week Redux

It’s been just two weeks since PDX Kink Week ended, and we are just so proud of our city of hot ‘n’ pervy weirdos. For its debut year, Kink Week was a mad success. Over these 7 days, the community hosted 13 featured events in venues across the city, 11 socials/meet-ups in local cafes and smaller spaces, and we partnered with and promoted 25 sponsors — businesses we love and who support our Portland scene.

It is always so reassuring to see people come together like this. Oppressive forces are actively working to stifle sexual freedom and queer & trans rights, so it is very important right now that we take up space and find our allies. And y’all showed up to do just that!

There was kinkster-led live comedy, all-gender strip nights, BIPOC socials, BDSM play parties, a subversive zine-making workshop, a kinky DnD social, catered cocktail events, a BDSM bathhouse spa day, and dungeon skills classes + so much more! Over 1000 people attended featured events and community-led socials during the week (not including the thousands that also attended Kinkfest).

We’ve been getting some incredible feedback from featured event hosts, and most shows sold out. We were featured on EverOut and TravelPortland; we were even shouted out on the Jupiter Hotel marquee on Burnside. We gave away some fantastic donated goodies from Motorbunny, SheBop, and Fantasy. Overall, we witnessed Portland doing what it does best — and we plan to keep on signal boosting all that is weird and wonderful.

The PDXKinkWeeK.com website will continue to be an active calendar of local BDSM and kink events until we are ready to start promoting next year’s official Kink Week, which will no doubt be bigger and better. Mark your calendars for March 2027 (the week before easter weekend). If you’d like us to promote your BDSM event, reach out to us and share your event link.

What our partners & collaborators are saying:

“Kink Week amplified the fun of (Kinkfest), allowing friends who couldn’t attend to feel included and have space to celebrate, and for those that could to further stoke our anticipation and excitement. It was so much fun!”

— Duchess, social host of ‘Force & Feeling: A Kinky Show and Tell’ at Escape Bar and Grill

Hear You Loud & Queer is all about queer joy, being our authentic selves and resisting the system of power holding down queerness and inherently kink! It was our honor and privilege to be part of the first annual PDX Kink Week and celebrate this crossover! We can’t wait to do it again with all the little freaks out there!”

Ally J. Ward, one of the hosts of the NSFW Kinky Comedy Show, hosted by Hear You Loud & Queer and Giggle Bottom at Show Bar.

“PDX Kink Week is what happens when people choose curiosity over fear. What struck me most was how deeply community-driven it all was: people not only showing up, but creating, hosting, and shaping the experience together. The week was both structured and expansive, where there was room to take up space…and just as much room to find it, even if it was entirely new. That kind of welcome doesn’t happen by accident.”

— Madame Penelope Von Meretrix, Community Member & Sponsor

“PDX Kink Week was a great way to contribute and connect to my community, and I’m grateful to everyone who worked so hard to make it an incredible week.”

— Mx. Audrey Saint, hosted ‘Physical Media: A Kinky Zine Workshop at Grave Raiment Studio

“We had an incredible time throwing our kinky play party for dykes during PDX Kink Week. Everyone was excited to play in a kinky space for us, by us.”

— Queen Emma, The Gay Barn (Hosts of Filthy Dyke) at Peacock

We welcome all feedback or input on our Feedback Form. See you out and about!

The Debut of PDX Kink Week

PDX Kink Week, A city-wide celebration of kink, March 31-April 7. Neon pink and green logo over a black and white photo of the Portland city skyline

Portland loves a theme week. Burger WeekDumpling WeekNacho Week, and of course, the beloved Geek Week.

Portland is one of the kinkiest cities in the world, according to travel experts Fodor’s Travel (they shouted us out!) and raw data from the dating app Feeld. We see it firsthand, with all the incredible local events, sex clubs, kink-friendly shops, and bathhouses. At our space, we see that there is an increasing thirst for BDSM education as well as in-person experiences. We sell out FemDom Bootcamp every single month (and there’s a waitlist!). We host a monthly FemDom Social that continues to grow. Private rentals at Sub Rosa (especially our overnight rentals) are increasingly popular. At our classes, people are always asking where to go to meet other kinksters and make deeper connections. So, the need for this event was clear…

PDX Kink Week is a love letter to Portland. The idea was hatched by Princessa Natasha, inspired by Geek Week, a grassroots collection of geeky events centered around Rose City Comicon. Natasha felt a strong need to reconnect to her favorite city after the pandemic. It’s a city-wide celebration of all the sexy, dark, creative, weird, kinky things Portland has to offer (beyond Kinkfest and into the heart of the city). A way for us all to support the small businesses, venues, and event hosts that keep the city kinky year-round. A way for us all to connect at a time when we may feel really disconnected from humanity.

At this point nearly every evening of Kink Week has multiple events from a kinky comedy show, a strip club takeover, to an Aftercare Spa Day at Hawks. We are still adding more kinky events, so be sure to check out the PDX Kink Week website for an updated list. If you are an event host and have something you would like to add, let us know!

We are also very excited about the community-led socials aspect of Kink Week. These are smaller more intimate gatherings where kinksters can connect over both BDSM interests as well as vanilla. We’ve entered a time where social intimacy is a becoming more and more treasured. As Natasha expressed on her blog: “for a while it was great that we could connect with like minded strangers over pretty much ANY interest on the internet. I am still great friends with people who I mean through Twitter back when Twitter was fun. I would have never met these people if it wasn’t for social media. But fast forward 15 years, a pandemic, and an influx of AI, and I see people being more and more drawn to connecting in person.”

More socials will be added over the next couple weeks. We’ve got an awesome line-up, including socials like: the Ace Spectrum Social, BIPOC Social, Fem/ThemDom Social, Latex Fetish Social, a DnD Social, and many more. Natasha is hosting a Mrs. Robinson Social at Cinema 21 for Mommies, MILFs, and Mrs Robinsons to watch the classic 1967 film The Graduate. All are listed on the PDX Kink Week homepage and there are more to come as we get closer. Interested in hosting your own social? Just submit!

More discounts, specials, and hidden menu items will be added as we go. Have something you would like to add? Let us know! We would love to find more kink-friendly businesses in Portland to promote, especially those offering discounts or freebies!

To-Do in 2026

It’s been a devastatingly hard time for a lot of folks. Dealing with the impacts of the current administration is an ongoing battle and it is going to take all of us, doing our best, in whatever ways we can. The enshittification is real. If you are looking to get more involved and engaged in 2026, do not wait any longer! Action is the antidote to despair; everyone has their part to play, from donating money to writing representatives to showing up at the ICE facility to protest.

There are so many orgs both local and national that are doing the hard work of resistance. We are posting this and will work to update it throughout 2026 as we find new opportunities and orgs to support.

So let’s buckle up, hang on to each other, and put direct action on our immediate to-do list for this next year.

Join forces with the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition (PIRC):
PIRC has been doing some impressive work leading Migra Watch online trainings and creating systems that alert the community to the presence of ICE. They have been dispatching a network of community volunteers to witness and report detentions and/or arrests where possible. Head over to their website to sign up for the next training, download and print hotline flyers or educational ‘Know Your Rights’ info sheets. If you are not able to be an in-person reporter or witness, distributing these flyers to your community can be a great way to support the effort. This resource will be more supportive if information is shared widely. The flyers are available to download and print in both English and Spanish. You can also host a fundraiser. If anything, DONATE! They are doing very necessary work.

Volunteer and support The Marie Equi Center:
The Marie Equi Center is doing amazing work to empower and improve the health of LGBTQIA2S+ folks in the Pacific Northwest. They host free events, legal clinics, and have drop-in service hours for the Trans and Queer Service Center and Community Health Program. You can sign up to volunteer or donate. Follow them @marieequi.center and spread the word about this community resource.

Download and call your reps with The 5 Calls App:
If you’re willing and able to make phone calls, download the app on Google Play or the App Store. It makes it super easy to call representatives about the issues that matter to you. It will find the representatives for your location, give you their numbers (just click to call) and a script to read from or to make your own.

Donate new or used items directly to these local orgs:
It’s winter and people are cold. Find a local spot and donate gently used or new warm clothing, jackets, socks, shoes, boots, gloves, hats. Donate food items. Many of these programs have been cut; people have lost a portion (or all) of their SNAP benefits. We need to support the orgs getting folks what they need, more than ever, NOW. Here are a few that take drop-offs: Rose Haven (@rosehavenpdx), Rahab’s Sisters (@rahabs.sisters), Blanchett House (@blanchethouse), Friends of Seasonal and Service Workers.

Invest your time into supporting Local Mutual Aid Efforts:
If anything, donate to a free fridge somewhere in your neighborhood, or drop off food or supplies directly to a nearby encampment or houseless person. Check on these folks in the extreme weather. To learn more about local mutual aid efforts and learn how to get involved check out: Portland Mutual Aid (@portlandmutualaid) and this long list of mutual aid resources and info. Also follow: @pdxfreefridge & @communityfreefoodpdx.

Follow these orgs for more info and events:

Seven Year Bitch

Sub Rosa celebrates year seven!

It’s hard to believe we brought this wild ride to life SEVEN years ago this month. Seven whole years of whipping y’all into shape, subduing eager submissives, encouraging & training new dominants, renting dungeon space, and hosting deliciously strange kink events. We’ve survived shutting down entirely during the height of the pandemic, we’ve survived this Trump administration and the one before it, and we don’t plan on going anywhere. We are grateful to be here after seven years of Sub Rosa, still kicking the patriarchy’s tender balls, supported by this amazing network of sex positive BDSM enthusiasts.

Our humble beginnings

When we both connected in 2017, we quickly discovered that we shared a similar vision and aesthetic for our ideal space, one where we would not only have our private sessions and coaching, but where we could prioritize education and community. We set about acquiring dungeon furniture and looking for the perfect commercial space that would fit our needs. Our first space fell through less than a month before we moved in. After that we spent longer than we expected looking, rejected several times by spaces we’d fallen in love with (due to sexism and discrimination related to our industry).

Eventually we circled back to a unit we had previously passed on (it’s not ADA accessible and that is still an issue for us and many others). But, it was what we could afford and it was available! It was un ugly, dusty, empty white box. It had zero charm. But we loved the discretion of the location and knew we could transform it with the perfect shade of burgundy velvet, with spit & glitter, with a dominatrixes’ touch.

Sub Rosa before our changes: big, open, empty, and dingy

The vision started to take shape. We painted the floors and accent walls, installed new lighting, hard points, and put up new interior walls to break up the space.

We started to bring in erotic art, black leather furniture, accents of deep red, turquoise, warm grey tones, and colored accent lights. We got lucky when we purchased a unit full of bondage furniture that had been sitting in Seattle storage for years. We bought it sight unseen from a retiring dominatrix friend who we knew had impeccable taste. Some of our most iconic pieces come from that collection! Opening up that storage unit when we were finally ready to move the gear in was like kinky christmas.

Eventually the build-out was finished and the Sub Rosa playspace emerged, not all that different from the space it is now. Our very first event was a SW-centered book reading of Road Map for Revolutionaries: Resistance, Activism, and Advocacy for All by Elisa Camahort Page. It meant so much to us to finally bring our passion for community to our own physical space.

Since opening, we have hosted over 130 events/classes for more than 3400 attendees! Sub Rosa has grown and changed over these seven years, and we know we will keep evolving and learning. We also know that would not be here without your support. Booking private rentals, attending our classes, and scheduling coaching sessions are foundational ways to keep Sub Rosa up and running.

Celebrate seven years of Sub Rosa during our birthday month

We do our best to give back to the community with our energy, donations, and mutual aid efforts. The outpouring of gratitude and appreciation we receive when we do always means so much. Now at seven years in, with ever-rising operating costs — we are open to receiving gifts!

Stay Proud & Support these Communities

As the nation becomes more and more hostile to queers and to sex positivity, we feel blessed to be here in Oregon where we are relatively safe as openly proud members of the LGBTQ community and the kink community. Sub Rosa is a queer-owned business, and we stand with our trans siblings and family, and all who are facing oppression from this administration — during Pride month, and year round.

Thank you for supporting our small business, and for supporting queer individuals and communities. Start by checking out the organizations and resources below.

All about FemDom Bootcamp

One of Sub Rosa’s ongoing monthly offerings is our FemDom Bootcamp (FDBC). We’ve been operating Sub Rosa since 2018, and have done a version of this Bootcamp for over six years — it is truly a favorite event for us. The electric energy of the attendees and demo bottoms is always new, unique every time, regardless of the fact that the format remains the same.

Our Bootcamps are coached play parties that offer a special opportunity to learn via demonstrations and hands-on play, in a structured and supportive setting. The evening encourages exploration so that aspiring FemDom attendees can gain confidence in BDSM, with a strong focus on establishing consent and negotiation.

FDBC sells out quickly every month and the waitlist is usually long — so if it’s on your to-do list to check it out, jump on the tickets fast. Generally, Bootcamps are on first Thursdays. In 2025, we plan to offer at least one weekend FDBC for the folks who can’t make Thursday evenings — plus two Level II Bootcamp classes for return attendees.

A lot of folks are curious about FDBC and want to know what exactly to expect, so here’s the basic outline:

Our Bootcamps last three hours. The first half is a class-style discussion where we all introduce ourselves, go over the rules of the evening, discuss consent and safety, and answer questions. We then introduce the demo bottoms and model negotiation with each of them — outlining what activities they will be demonstrating at their station.

For the last half of the evening, attendees practice on the demo bottoms and socialize. Each station provides an opportunity to try new BDSM activities, toys, and gear in an educational context with a lot of delighted giggles and support. It’s really like kinky circuit training, or as one attendee once called it: kinky OMSI.

In addition to Sub Rosa, we open up our other dungeon room next door (“Mother’s Den”) to expand the play area. This is the only event where we allow access to Mother’s Den, which is generally reserved for our private professional use. During FDBC, Mother’s Den functions as a quieter space, with lots of snacks and hot tea, foot rubs, and opportunities to chat, as well as a demo bottom station or two. We often invite local makers to sell their wares, like RedeemerPDX who makes upcycled impact toys or Dolly Dagger of Mischief Maker who makes custom, size-inclusive adjustable harnesses and garters.

The demo bottom stations in the ‘circuit’ include a variety of five to six activities, including: spanking, flogging, paddling, electro-play, trampling, foot massage (receiving), sensation play, genital torment, genital bondage, as well as play piercing (behind a barrier so you don’t have to see if you don’t want to), snuggly age play, or pet play. Natasha, Viola, and two experienced support dommes circulate throughout the spaces to give help and guidance as needed, and to ensure the demo bottoms are safe. We encourage attendees to try new things but voyeurism is also a perfectly acceptable way to learn, especially for very new folks who are seeking exposure and experience.

The demo bottoms change from month to month — every Bootcamp is a different combination of activities, so attendees often come back more than once, or even become regulars. We always work to make sure that our demo bottoms range in gender, presentation, age and body size. We only host experienced demo bottoms who we know well, and who we trust to communicate clearly and model good kink practices with the attendees. (You can read our requirements for support positions, including demo bottoms, at SubRosaPDX.com/support.)

Generally, FDBC attendees are mostly women* and/or non-binary people — with the occasional cis male partner of an attendee brought along for support. Men attending with their partners are explicitly asked not to engage in play with demo bottoms, but it can be a great event to learn and watch from the submissive side too. This is not an event for single men, submissive or dominant. *FDBC, like everything we do, is trans-inclusive; trans women are women!

In December 2024 we hosted our first FemDom Bootcamp Level II, for people who have come to FDBC a few times and feel ready to step up their play. This year, we plan to host Level II twice — once in the late spring, and one in December. At these more advanced FDBCs, we keep the initial teaching portion of the evening very short, since everyone has already heard the talk on consent and safety — which leaves more time for hands-on play. At Level II only our most experienced demo bottoms will be present, to make the most of the extra playtime and perhaps bring in some more advanced activities. Our first Level II featured a vacuum bed, leather sleepsack, and hanging strap cage, in addition to impact play and play piercing.

We are always delighted and honored to share space with the curious newbies and exploring FemDoms who attend FDBC; and we are truly grateful to our trusty demo bottoms who donate their bodies to kinky science every month. The Bootcamps have become a core part of the Sub Rosa experience and we look forward to many more years of FDBC!

If you have a question about Bootcamps or our other events please email us at info@subrosapdx.com and be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to hear about upcoming classes and new offerings.

Group Party Rentals Now Available

We love sharing our femdom lair with vetted community members. And did you know that we now offer group party rentals at Sub Rosa, for more than four people?

When Sub Rosa opened, we viewed it primarily as a working professional dungeon. Over time, community rentals have grown into an important piece of what we do here.

It feels special to open up our beloved playspace to others, to make their own magic here. A testimonial we received put it this way: “Sub Rosa is a place where anyone can give themselves over and realize the power of both dominance and submission.”

We’ll admit it took a while to accept the idea of larger groups using our space unsupervised. But now the time has finally come for group party rentals at Sub Rosa!

Sub Rosa is perfect for 5-16 people to celebrate kinky milestones or simply enjoy a sexy private play party in a fully equipped dungeon. With so many options for play and a plethora of toys on hand, there is something for everyone. If you haven’t seen our space, check out this 3D tour.

Group party rentals are treated a little differently from standard rentals. See the full rental policy here. Group sessions run four to six hours, with a tour/orientation thirty minutes before the rental time.

To plan your party, simply email info@subrosapdx.com for scheduling, and then we’ll send you an invoice for payment. We do require a security deposit for all group rentals, fully refundable minus any damage or excessive cleaning.

Rates vary based on group size: $160/hr for 5-8, $240/hr for 9-12, and $320/hr for 13-16. We kept the party rates as affordable as possible, while reflecting the increased risk for wear and tear.

These hourly rates per person are actually lower than the standard rate, there are just more people using the space!

NOTE: We welcome your private gatherings but please, no ticketed parties that are marketed/advertised to the public as being hosted at Sub Rosa. Please only share our address with confirmed attendees. The host must vouch for all guests. Everyone attending must fill out the Facility Use Waiver.

Are you ready to start planning your party? Maybe you’ve been dreaming about hosting a sexy gathering in a beautifully intimate space. Or maybe you’re planning a collaring ceremony and want somewhere you are free to be as kinky as you are. Make your kink party dreams come true – email us to begin scheduling.

Up Your Game!

Sub Rosa rental add-ons and Honor Bar toys

If you’ve ever visited or rented Sub Rosa, you’ve noticed we’ve got toys just about everywhere you turn. All of our quality leather restraints, impact and sensation toys, plus our trusty Magic Wand, are always available for use in your private rentals. But what about those times when you just need a little something more to take your play to the next level? That’s where Sub Rosa rental add-ons and Honor Bar toys sponsored by SheBop can up your game.

Toys for Rent

We currently have two add-on options when you book a private session – the KinkLab Neon Wand Electrosex Kit and the Motorbunny ride-on sex machine. Add-ons are a fantastic way to try out something new and spice up your date nights.

Motorbunny

The Motorbunny is a versatile and powerful saddle-style sex machine that uses insertable or non-penetrative attachments. It’s no joke! Like riding a motorcycle with sex toys attached. You’ll need to purchase and bring your own attachments, but they aren’t too pricey. Order from their online store, then when booking the space, add-on the Sub Rosa Motorbunny for a wild ride.

Neon Wand

The Neon Wand is great for beginners exploring electroplay. Each of the four glass electrode attachments produces its own electric shock sensation. Try out this beloved electrosex toy as an add-on – and then if you love it, you can buy one from our Honor Bar to take home!

The KinklLab Neon Wand Electrosex Kit

Honor Bar

What is it?

The Sub Rosa Honor Bar is a collaboration with our favorite local adult boutique –  She Bop! It features a specially curated collection of ten essentials that you can now purchase in-person at Sub Rosa, via the She Bop website (using an in-house QR code). See the full collection on their site here.

Sub Rosa Through a Professional Lens

We take a lot of pride in our beautiful fetish space, so it’s always exciting to see the dungeon through the eyes (and lens) of a creative professional in a boudoir photoshoot.

Sub Rosa provides a dreamy, sexy atmosphere for private boudoir portraits, erotic art, kinky fashion photography, and more. Many photos have been taken in Sub Rosa, but here we’d like to profile three of our favorite professional photographers to work with: The Nightshade Noir, Amber Red, and Mason Rose.

Working under the direction of one of these incredible photographers, with Sub Rosa providing the sexy setting, is a boudoir dream come true. Whether you’re an experienced model or new to working the camera, these artists will draw out your best and immortalize the moment. Treat yourself to the experience of a professional photoshoot at a private rental in Sub Rosa, and leave feeling empowered, with an incredible keepsake!

The Nightshade Noir

The Nightshade Noir has directed many photoshoots at Sub Rosa, including sessions with Mistress Viola and Princessa Natasha. His work features dramatic lighting, bold lines, and rich textures. He specializes in fierce, sexy portraits but also knows how to show softness and vulnerability. You can follow his Instagram here.

Amber Red

Amber Red has captured many beautiful portraits of Viola and Natasha, and knows well how to work with what Sub Rosa has to offer. You can see Amber’s gallery of her work at Sub Rosa here. A session with her is more than a photoshoot, it is an experience that provides space for embracing yourself, your vision, and your emotions – catching it all in richly saturated colors. Follow Amber’s Instagram here, and book through her website here.

Mason Rose

Mason Rose is a trans photographer whose stunning portraits possess an ethereal sensuality. His work uplifts queers, trans people, sex workers, and the kink community, subverting systemic shame into beauty and celebration. You can follow Mason’s Instagram here, and book a session with him on his website here.

Reach out to any of these photographers directly to book a professional boudoir photoshoot, and request Sub Rosa as the location. If you already have a photographer to work with, book your Sub Rosa session now!
